Joseph A. Andrulewicz was born March 22nd, 1925 in Mt. Carmel Northumberland county, Pennsylvania. At the time of enlistment, Andrulewicz was living at 525 W 3rd St, Mt. Carmel Northumberland county, PA. His father Anthony Andrulewicz and his mother Veronica Gustaitis resided at 183 Hobart St, Moosic, PA. Before the war Andrulewicz's occupation dealt with mineral extraction.

When the war began Andrulewicz was 13 years old. On October 27th, 1943, at the age of 18, Andrulewicz enlisted in the U.S. Army at the Wilkes Barre Recruitment Center.

Andrulewicz was not married at the time of enlistment but he did have one child, Irene M. Fisanick. Andrulewicz also had one sibling, Edward F. Brady.
