My name is Nathan Calderon and I am currently 18, the same age of Andrulewicz when he enlisted into the Army. It is almost surreal to imagine the patriotism in the hearts of the men who committed their lives to the war effort and enlisted in the military at such a young age. This project helped me understand the sacrifices Americans are willing to make for not just their freedom, but the freedom of their peers. The act of giving up your own life to save others is the most selfless act a man could do. It is truly humbling. If I had the ability to talk to Andrulewicz I would start off by thanking him for his service and ask him what career would he persue after the war ended if he had survived. Ancestry.com was the most important source of information for completing this project. it allowed me to recover old documents signed by Joseph Andrulewicz and his family members while also providing information about Andrulewicz childhood. I would highly encourage any viewer of this website to research their own American hero. This project redefined the gratitude I have towards our Armed Forces. I have always been a huge supporter of the military but researching a soldier so in depth it really emphasizes the sacrifices made by these men (and women).
